I am purchasing these bars for travel, and have enjoyed two so far! I wish the packaging wasn’t so large to make it easier to pack or shove in a bag, but the bars are great. Considering one of the bigger ones, but not sure how to store the left over portion on the road :-). Great to have these. Thanks.
If polar explorers made use of Pemmican, you will definitely benefit from it as you trek the mountains of Montana.
This is more a request than a review, I'm looking forward to trying the seasoned version. I read of a recipe by a Native American and it included dried, pulverized wild cherries. Such are not overly sweet. Also, they ground everything in stone depressions, dried meat and cherries, puts and all, before mixing in tallow. Then sun dried the bricks, sometimes smoke cured.
I have read about pemmican since I was a youngster. The flavor reminds me of chipped beef minus the gravy. More importantly, it helped me maintain energy through my afternoon. I can see how munching on a bit here and there will keep me moving even in the worst case scenarios. Pack one bar in my go bag.
I purchased the Pemmican spread, Pemmican bar salted. and unseasoned. I haven't tried them yet, but based on previous reviews, I am confident they will be tasty. I bought them to bring on camping and hiking trips. They are also nice to have as a reserve.
Can't wait for the spring time to try them out.
I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the seasoned 4 ounce bar tasted pretty decent! I did not eat the whole bar at once only used it to keep the tummy groweling away, and it did great at that. About three different occasions of moving on the bar, and at last five or six hours.
Probably the most legitimate Pemmican I ever had. Lots of places advertise pemmican but this is the real deal and easy to get.
Very flavorful. The price tag is a little tough, definitely not a regular purchase.
